Gorenjska in two days

Bled–Bled Gorge–Vrba–Kranjska Gora–Zelenci–Mojstrana–Begunje–Brezje

Day 1: The bus will take us past Kranj to Bled. After walking through the captivating Bled Gorge (Blejski Vintgar), we will return to Bled for a visit to Bled Castle, which also offers a wonderful panoramic view of the lake and the area. Great sights and photo opportunities will continue when we take a panoramic bus ride along the lake – after trying a “kremšnita”, the typical local cream pastry. Before leaving Bled, a “pletna”, a traditional boat, will take us over to Bled Island. We will continue to Vrba, the birthplace of the greatest Slovenian poet, France Prešeren. After visiting the exhibit, we will have some free time before dinner in Kranjska Gora.

Day 2: Late morning departure to the Zelenci Natural Reserve, habitat for varied flora and fauna and the source of the river Sava Dolinka. We will continue to a rustic house turned into an ethnological museum. At the monument to the patriotic parish priest, composer and mountaineering enthusiast, Jakob Aljaž, we will try to catch a glimpse of Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak. The last part of the trip will introduce us to Slovene national music. One of Slovenia’s best performing musical groups, The Avsenik Brothers, originates from Begunje. We will visit their museum after lunch and on the way back stop at Brezje, Slovenia’s most important place of Christian pilgrimage.
