Karst,
Coast and Venice
Škocjan Caves–Portorož–Venice
Day 1: Early departure to
the Škocjan Regional Park, a site of global significance
included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. We will then head to
the harbour town of Piran, where there will be free time for
lunch. Then we will board the ship and explore the marine flora
and fauna, as well as the underwater remains of a Roman road. In
the late afternoon, we will check in to the hotel and spend some
free time before dinner.
Day 2: After an early
breakfast, our catamaran will depart from Portorož and skim
across the northern Adriatic to Venice. After entering the
Venice Lagoon, we will admire the city from the upper deck of
the vessel. During the guided walk around some of the essential
sights, there will also be a visit to the Murano glass workshop.
There will be some free time for individual sightseeing, coffee
on St. Mark’s Square or a gondola ride before returning to the
Slovenian coast.
Please note: The catamaran
only goes on selected days. Please enquire about the schedule. A
visit to Venice is also possible by bus.
DID YOU KNOW ...
... that
Slovenia has the tallest cliff on the Adriatic coast? In the
Strunjan Peninsula, an almost vertical flysch wall rises up from
the sea to a height of 80 metres. |
