On the Road in Dolenjska

Stična–Novo mesto–Kostanjevica na Krki–Pleterje

Our tour will start with a visit to the Cistercian Monastery in Stična, where the oldest Latin manuscript in Slovenia originates. Our next destination, the Dolenjska Museum in Novo mesto, will provide insight into the history, culture and traditions of the region. After lunch, we will continue to Kostanjevica na Krki, a small town idyllically located on an island in the middle of the Krka river. The tour will conclude with a visit to the Carthusian Monastery in Pleterje, established in the 15th century by Herman II of Celje. Since this is a working monastery, much of the complex is closed to the public; however, a short video will offer insight into the life and functioning of the monastery.

DID YOU KNOW ...
… that Krka with its 111 km (69 miles) is the longest Slovenian river that flows only on Slovenian territory?
