Unec–Rakov Škocjan–Cerknica Lake–Snežnik Castle–Križna Cave

The trip will start in the Škocjan Regional Park near Unec. We will admire the Big and the Small Natural Bridges, the ruins of St. Cantianus’ church and Tkalca Cave. The seasonal changes of the intermittent Cerknica Lake, which is a lake for only about half the year and a dry field otherwise, will be vividly demonstrated by a live model of the lake area in Dolenje Jezero. Before lunch in a local restaurant, we will also visit Snežnik Castle and the nearby dormouse museum. At the end of our excursion, we will visit the dry part of the spectacular Križna Cave, in which 22 underground lakes have been discovered so far.
