Idrija–Most na Soči–Kobarid–Trenta–Vršič
Day 1: In the morning, we
will head towards Idrija to visit the museum collections, the
most important being the bobbin lace-making exhibit. We will
proceed along the Idrijca river to Most na Soči, embark a boat
and be served a meal while enjoying the journey. The next hour
will take us through the breathtaking Tolminka Gorge. We will
see the Devil’s Bridge that arches sixty meters above the
Tolminka river, Dante’s Cave that the poet used as a refuge,
and several other wonders of pristine nature. In Kobarid, we
will stop at the ossuary (necropolis) and at Kobarid Museum,
dedicated to the battles on the Isonzo front, which were
described by Hemingway. After sightseeing, we will check in to
the hotel.
Day 2: After breakfast,
there will be a choice between rafting on the Soča or an
excursion to the Alpinum Julijana botanical garden and the
Trenta Museum. In the afternoon, after a traditional meal, we
will continue up towards the Vršič pass and learn the legend
of the Ajdovska deklica (the maiden whose face turned to stone).
We will make stop at the Russian Chapel, built by Russian
prisoners of war, and return to the starting point.
