| The
Wonders of Karst
Postojna–Predjama Castle–Vipava–Štanjel
We will start our tour by
visiting Postojna Cave, a part of the largest known cave system
in Slovenia. This mysterious underground world famous for its
endemic inhabitant – the human fish – is partly explored by
train. We will then proceed to Predjama Castle, formerly owned
by the notorious knight Erasmus. Our lunch will be served in
Vipava, where we will also be shown a local wine cellar and
enjoy some wine tasting. In the picturesque Karst settlement of
Štanjel, we will walk through the medieval village and visit
the Lojze Spacal art gallery.

... that
Slovenia’s Karst Plateau has given its name to karst
landscapes and karst phenomena all over the world? It was in the
Karst that experts first explained numerous karst features such
as underground caves, dolines and ponors. |
